New Self-Evaluation Tool For Financial Advisers

New Online Self-Evaluation Tool Available For Financial Advisers

ETITO is pleased to announce the availability of an online self-evaluation tool specifically for financial advisers preparing for authorisation as required by the Financial Advisers Act 2008. This online tool, developed in conjunction with the Open Polytechnic, has been designed to provide advisers with an indication of any current knowledge and/or skills gaps that they might have across a range of unit standards contained within the National Certificate in Financial Services [Financial Advice] [Level 5].

“ETITO is committed to providing financial advisers with every opportunity to ready themselves for the competency requirements under regulation, and that’s why we’ve worked with representatives from across the financial services industry to design the tool,” says Michael Frampton, ETITO Manager – Strategy and Corporate Relations. “Regardless of whether advisers are relatively new to the industry or have many years of relevant experience, by using this tool they’ll get an indication about how to best approach their preparation for authorisation.”

Financial advisers can access the self-evaluation tool through ETITO’s new website www.afacompetence.org.nz. Here they can also find all the latest information about the proposed competence requirements for financial advisers looking to become authorised.

There is a $28 [+GST] fee associated with accessing the self-evaluation tool and completing the questionnaire which covers the unit standards contained within Standard Sets A, C and D [including specialist questions for investment, insurance and residential property lending] as currently proposed by the Code Committee. Once the questionnaire has been completed, advisers receive a one-off profile report that will help them determine their next step regarding training and assessment. It is important to note that completing the questionnaire does not count towards any assessment for the National Certificate in Financial Services [Financial Advice] [Level 5].

ETITO encourages advisers who want to be kept up-to-date to keep a close eye on www.afacompetence.org.nz as the site will be updated regularly as Code Committee proposals are finalised and the competency standards are confirmed.
