iWantMyName Launches New Zealand Site
Innovative domain registrar iWantMyName has launched a New Zealand version of its global domain registrar site. The registrar plans to carve a niche within a worldwide market for domain related services worth over $4 billion and which continues to grow at around 9% anually.
Chief Marketing Officer, Timo Reitnauer, said that iWantMyName had already secured some brand awareness in New Zealand through involvement with ICT related communities such as last week's Linux Conference in Wellington. He said there had been numerous requests by local users for a New Zealand currency denominated site. In particular, customers were warming to the domain customisation services being offered to users of cloud hosted services such as Gmail and Zoho.
The site was also the first in New Zealand to offer internationalised domain names (IDN) and Maori macron characters for domains as well as a DomainApp for iPhone users. Wellington based parent company, ideegeo Group Limited, was established in 2008 to provide technology development services to the global domain registrar industry.
Company CEO, Paul Spence, said that iWantMyName was evolving as a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) solution for registrars with German and Dutch language versions having been rolled out successfully in 2009.
