Energy Event in New Plymouth

Energy Event in New Plymouth

An exciting new show for the oil and gas industry will be launched next year.

ENEX, a Kiwi-owned event, has been eagerly welcomed and endorsed by industry leaders who see it as an opportune time to showcase the sector as oil and gas production and exploration has reached new levels.

The inaugural ENEX event will be held in New Plymouth June 9-10, 2011 at the TSB Stadium through a partnership between two well-established and successful New Zealand companies – Contrafed Publishing Co Ltd, publisher of EnergyNZ magazine, and Conferenz Ltd.

“We are looking forward to a new event showcasing oil and gas sector expertise and achievements, and EnergyNZ’s expertise in the petroleum sector will ensure they bring in some great local and international speakers,” says John Pfahlert, the Executive Officer of the Petroleum Exploration and Production Association of New Zealand (PEPANZ).

“This is precisely the right time for an exciting new forum to capture the rapid growth of the New Zealand oil and gas sector and its increasing contribution to the economy.”

Contrafed is the publisher of the upstream energy sector magazine EnergyNZ, and Conferenz is the country’s largest conference and training programme organising company. Both companies are wholly New Zealand owned and operated.

“Through our extensive contacts with the oil and gas sector through EnergyNZ we saw the opportunity to organise with a reputable event marketing partner an event that will be a modern and innovative forum for the sector to showcase its resources and skills,” says Contrafed managing editor Mary Searle.

“The oil and gas sector is the largest of the upstream energy sectors and oil exports now make up the third-largest contribution to overseas earnings. There is renewed political support for the sector, and a renewed sense of purpose and optimism for the oil and gas industry in general.”

ENEX will combine a trade show with the learning opportunities of a seminar and conference, all in one location. Attendees will be able to move freely through a wide range of different activities of interest. Staged areas for different purposes will be set up within the trade display area, to enable an integrated mix of international and local speakers, trade displays, and product demonstrations representing the cutting edge of oil and gas exploration and production.

“We have listened to the market and aim to create an event that will meet the high expectations and demands of the industry,” says Dominic Duncan, sales director at Conferenz.

“The event will bring together delegates and exhibitors in one space for both days, to maximise networking opportunities.”

Bookings for ENEX have been eager from the moment the event was formalized, says Contrafed sales and marketing manager, Mike Bridgman.

"Bookings for sponsorships and trade stands are pouring in for the event in New Plymouth in June 2011, confirming our research that the Kiwi upstream oil and gas sector wants its own world-class event,” he says.
