Wellington firm’s IT work easing winter power woes

Wellington firm’s IT work easing winter power woes

Wellington design agency Base Two Ltd has redeveloped Contact Energy’s online services for residential customers to give them greater control of their power use.

Contact Energy customers can now see graphs online of their power consumption from month to month, showing how their current energy use compares to previous use.

Colin Phillips, Interactive Director at Base Two, said: “Our challenge was to connect New Zealanders with their power and gas usage and make it about more than just a number on a bill.

“Through Contact’s online services, people can see what energy they’ve used and adjust their power usage to fit their budget or requirements. Over time, more enhancements will be made to the online services environment to give customers even better information.

“It’s too early to know if this will increase New Zealand’s use of smarter heating options, or insulation uptake, but that’s certainly a possibility.”

Base Two’s development of the website’s information architecture and the redesign of the user interface have won approval from customers who have said the site is easy to use and informative.
