Leading Auckland Lawyer Appointed As Business Roundtable Chair

New Zealand Business Roundtable members have elected Roger Partridge as the new chair of the organisation. He replaces Rob McLeod who was appointed in July by Ernst & Young to be managing partner, New Zealand and Australia, based in Sydney.

Roger Partridge is chairman of Bell Gully, one of New Zealand's leading law firms. He has been a member of the Business Roundtable since 2008. He was also a director of the Legal Research Foundation, New Zealand’s leading private law reform body, from 2001 to 2010.

Roger Partridge has been chairman of Bell Gully since 2007 after heading the firm’s litigation department for three years. During his time as chairman, Bell Gully has won multiple accolades including the prestigious IFLR New Zealand Law Firm of the Year award for 2008 and 2010.

Rob McLeod said he was very pleased to have someone of Roger Partridge’s calibre and extensive commercial law experience to succeed him as chairman. He said Bell Gully had a long-standing commitment to New Zealand business and the wider community.

Roger Partridge said he was delighted to accept the position and looked forward to contributing to the organisation’s mission of lifting productivity and raising standards of living for all New Zealanders through encouraging improvements in public policies.

He said that Rob McLeod had been an outstanding leader who had earned huge respect throughout the business and public policy communities and within Maoridom, and the Business Roundtable had been most fortunate to have him at the helm over the past seven years. Rob McLeod will continue as a member of the Business Roundtable.

Roger Partridge joins Business Roundtable vice-chairs, Bill Day, Seaworks, Bill Gallagher, Gallagher Group, and Nick Calavrias, representing alumni. Business Roundtable members paid tribute to Sir Ronald Trotter, the founding chair of the organisation in its present form, whose funeral was held this week.
