Hunter’s Mirumiru™ 2006 Reserve Scores Gold!!

Hunter’s Mirumiru™ 2006 Reserve Scores Gold!!

Hunter’s is thrilled to be awarded GOLD at the 2010 Tri-Nations Wine Challenge for the MiruMiru™ 2006 Reserve.

The annual Tri-Nations Wine Challenge is an invitation-only event where a limited number of top quality wines were selected from the three countries by leading judges – Bob Campbell MW (New Zealand), Huon Hooke (Australia) and Michael Fridjhon (South Africa). This year’s show saw 352 top wines put forward for judgement in 14 categories; these wines were then tasted blind to determine the ‘best of the best’ from all three nations. Hunter’s MiruMiru™ 2006 Reserve was awarded GOLD in this illustrious field thus providing more evidence that Hunter’s are more than just Sauvignon Blanc.

MiruMiru™ - Hunter’s trademark sparkling – translates to mean ‘bubbles’ in Maori. Hunter’s MiruMiru™ Non-Vintage is the more readily available of the MiruMiru™ range; Chief Winemaker, Gary Duke perceives the Non-Vintage to be a sparkling wine for “everyday drinking and all occasions” however the 2006 Reserve is a “more serious aged sparkling that is quite complex, well-structured with good persistent layers of flavour on the palate”. The 2006 Reserve was made by employing traditional Methode Champenoise techniques, using the champagne varieties – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier and obviously a GOLD winning combination for Hunter’s!
