International gathering celebrating New Zealand premium wine to be held in Christchurch
Christchurch| South Island joins some of the world's great winemaking regions as the newest member of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network and is proud to host this year's conference and AGM.
Wine industry leaders from the other regions - Bilbao | Rioja, Bordeaux, Cape Town, Firenze, Mainz | Rheinhessen, Mendoza, Porto, and San Francisco | Napa Valley, will gather in Christchurch for five days for a cluster of events designed to showcase the South Island's premium wine.
The Wine Discovery New Zealand 2010 event encompasses the Great Wine Capitals' Conference and AGM and includes symposia on the science and business aspects of the wine industry, tours to the South Island wine regions and social functions, which will show our international guests Kiwi entertainment and hospitality at its best.
The public will have the truly unique opportunity to come and taste over 200 wines from the most prestigious wine regions in the world, and to see for themselves how they stake up alongside our New Zealand favourites.
The finale of Wine Discovery NZ 2010 will be a Gala Dinner and celebration for the International 'Best Of' Wine Tourism Awards. Four South Island wineries and tourism operators will compete as finalists in their category at these prestigious awards, which set the benchmark for international wine tourism.
