New Zealand Natural Continues to Grow and Conquer

New Zealand Natural Continues to Grow and Conquer

17 November 2010 - Diane Foreman’s ice cream empire continues to expand geographically entering its 23rd country whilst continuing to win export and international awards. Last week New Zealand Natural opened its first outlet in Abu Dhabi, its 19th outlet in Saudi Arabia and collected the Export Award at the Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards.

Ms Foreman says the fact the Export award was scrutinised by two panels, the Franchise Awards judging team and the New Zealand Trade & Enterprise team was extremely satisfying.

“They were particularly complimentary about New Zealand Natural’s strong focus on core operational disciplines, commenting that it was an impressive overall submission. We pride ourselves on our product development processes, we are totally committed to research and development and we even have our own laboratory.”

Ms Foreman says being 100 percent manufactured in New Zealand means they are very volatile to aspects of international trade and the judges had commented on their effective systems and their handling of ingredient prices, currency fluctuations and transportation costs.

The former New Zealand Entrepreneur of the Year is well accustomed to collecting awards but considers the SIAL D'Or Award presented to New Zealand Natural in October this year in Paris, one of the most prestigious in the food and beverage category.

“Our ‘Sooshi’ ice cream, which is a take on rice sushi, was not only the SIAL d’Or Country winner but was given the highest rating by the international jury of food-retailing journalists. It is exciting to think a New Zealand company can foot it on the world stage.”

Ms Foreman says the company is progressing very well and the future is hugely exciting.

“I have staff all over the world at the moment opening new outlets in Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia and two others in Brazil and Mexico talking to prospective master franchisees. Excitingly we have our new master franchisees for the Philippines in New Zealand learning our systems to enable New Zealand Natural outlets to be opened early in 2011. Opening in Nepal is also not far off and in New Zealand I have just opened a new Movenpick outlet in Newmarket, Auckland.”
