Christchurch Firm a Finalist in Organising Industry Oscars

Christchurch company Totally Organised has received international acclaim by being named as a finalist in the 2011 NAPO LA Organizing Awards (National Association of Professional Organizers).

Totally Organised is New Zealand’s longest running specialist professional organising service, which helps people get organised in business or in the home.

Director Wendy Davie says being named as a finalist in the Most Innovative Organizer category is an honour.

“I feel amazingly humbled and honoured to be on the list of finalists alongside four other extremely clever and revolutionary international organisers,” she says. “These awards are truly the “Oscars” of the international organising industry, so this is definitely an honour I will treasure forever.”

Wendy Davie says the accolade is very timely, as business has picked up in the wake of the earthquake on September 4.

“This city is in desperate need of organisers to assist both businesses and homes in the aftermath of the earthquake. People’s lives have been turned upside down and they need some guidance and support in getting their business or homes back on track. One of my accountancy clients rang after the quake to thank me for being there beforehand, as it made the clean-up process so much easier.”

Wendy Davie is only the second non-United States Professional Organiser to be named as a finalist in the Los Angeles Organizing Awards. She says her nomination came from putting in the hard yards.

“I’ve spent time in the United States to learn as much as I can about the organising business and to build relationships with industry leaders. I also take up any opportunity to speak at conferences in the States.”

She loves the industry she works in and says her innovative approach to it made the difference in being selected as a finalist.

“I am one of the first and longest running providers of professional organising services in New Zealand, as well as becoming New Zealand’s first and only Certified Professional Organiser (CPO).

“Our company was the pioneer in this country by offering nationwide services with staff in all the main centres. I came up with the concept and was the designer of the Totally Organised range of products, then introduced the party plan system for selling our products in homes and businesses”

Wendy Davie says she trains and mentors those who wish to become Professional Organisers.

The Los Angeles Organizing Awards will be held on 29 January 2011 and Wendy Davie says she will definitely attend.

“I wouldn’t miss this for the world. It will be one of the most personally and professionally satisfying days of my life. The Awards recognise the best in the professional organising industry and this woman from New Zealand feels honoured to be a part of it!”
