New senior accountant a perfect fit for Maxims

Media Release – Maxims Accounting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New senior accountant a perfect fit for Maxims

Maxims Accounting has further strengthened its strong team of professionals with the appointment of senior accountant Mat Arcus.

Mr Arcus gained commercial accounting expertise with large companies in Wellington during the past decade, most recently at Transpower. Earlier this year he relocated to Hawke’s Bay with his family, drawn by the region’s lifestyle and opportunities for children.

On arriving in the Bay, Mr Arcus worked at apple export company Apollo Pac, but he says when the opportunity arose to work with director Pene Johnstone at Maxims, it was exactly what he was looking for long term for himself and his family.

“It was too good an opportunity to turn down!”

Pene Johnstone founded Maxims in Napier 14 years ago and Mr Arcus says he was drawn by the friendly, family approach of the flourishing practice.

“Maxims has a strong customer-service focus,” says Mr Arcus, who looks forward to contributing his commercial experience along with his background in economics.

“I worked as an economist for five years, so bring some extra skills,” he says, “but I’ve also practised accounting in a full range of areas, and bring exposure to a new way of doing things drawn from bigger companies.”

Pene Johnstone says her staff’s enthusiasm for their work means clients are provided with a responsive team of professionals eager to use their knowledge to help clients succeed.

Forward thinking, growth and change have characterised the firm during its history, she says.

“We've developed our traditional auditing and accounting practices into innovative, client-focused services.”

Pene Johnstone says Maxims offers personal, professional and cost-effective services to its clients, catering for businesses big and small.

“We are approachable and give the same attention to an elderly client with a small tax return to prepare as we do to a large company.”
