NZ Racing Board Chief Executive to return to UK

Chief Executive to return to UK

The New Zealand Racing Board today accepted the resignation of Chief Executive, Andrew Brown. Mr Brown, who was appointed to the role in May 2009, is to return to the United Kingdom with his family.

“My role as Chief Executive has been exciting and offered many challenges. Despite the ongoing effects of the global recession and subsequent impact on household spending, the New Zealand Racing Board has achieved strong financial results. After the recent announcement regarding reductions in distributions this year, the codes’ funding will continue to be above 2006 levels.

“I am also very pleased with the progress we have made in the past two years to drive change at the NZ Racing Board, including the introduction of TABTV and the soon to be completed installation of a new, world-leading betting engine. These initiatives will help the industry remain competitive and profitable in coming years.

“However, it was a major decision to move to New Zealand. With two young children, it has been particularly hard on my wife to be so far away from family and friends. This has weighed heavily on me and therefore, I have made the decision to return with the family to the United Kingdom,” Mr Brown said.

New Zealand Racing Board Chairman, Michael Stiassny said the board accepted Mr Brown’s resignation and supported his decision to put his family interests first.
