Former Air New Zealand Marketing Guru Joins Jetpack Maker

Steve Bayliss another high calibre board appointment for Martin Aircraft Company

Christchurch, 27 January 2011. – Steve Bayliss, former General Manager Marketing for Air New Zealand, has joined the board of Martin Aircraft Company, developers of the world’s first practical jetpack.

“Steve’s marketing expertise, demonstrated by the brand and marketing success of Air New Zealand in recent years, will be a strong asset for the board” says Martin Aircraft Company chairman Anthony Romano.

“Steve’s skills complement a strong board, and his understanding and relationships within the aviation sector bring added advantages and opportunities for the business”.

Martin Aircraft Company director and Chief Executive Richard Lauder said the appointment of Mr Bayliss comes at the start of a transformational year planned for the company. “While the business has had a high profile around the world through a great brand and the celebrity of the jetpack, Steve provides new insight into processes and approaches to build the business in what is planned to be very important commercial year for the company”.

“I am excited to join the Martin board,” said Mr Bayliss. “I have followed their progress for some time and am very impressed with the Martin Jetpack technology and the professional approach the company has. Deals in progress I have become aware of also make this a great time to join the business”.

Aside from his role at Air New Zealand, Mr Bayliss has also worked at an Executive level with international brewer Lion Nathan and with Coca Cola. He is currently writing fiction and non-fiction works, and consulting through his new business venture Branded Culture.

He joins existing directors company founder Glenn Martin, CEO Richard Lauder, ex-Luna Rossa and Calvin Klein Europe manager Anthony Romano, No 8 Ventures’ Jenny Morel and successful Christchurch entrepreneur Dennis Chapman on the board.
