CEO retires from large veterinary practice
News release
3rd March 2011
It is with regret that Animal Health Centre Waikato Incorporated announces the retirement of Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ron Gibson.
After 44 years with the practice, 22 years CEO, with the veterinary organisation, Dr Ron Gibson has resigned as CEO and will begin his retirement effective 1 June 2011.
Animal Health Centre board chairman, Morrie Johnston says “Ron goes with the best wishes of the board. We appreciate his dedication over the years and acknowledge the huge contribution he has made to the Animal Health Centre as we know it today”.
Under the leadership of Dr Gibson the Animal Health Centre has grown from 5 clinics to 10, from 11 vets to 38 and has also created an independent research division, which has ensured Animal Health Centre and Anexa farming clients are provided with the most up to date animal health solutions.
“Ron has led his team of vets and executive staff extremely well, and as the practice has grown, the consistent focus on the use of science based recommendations has ensured the practice’s reputation remained one of quality. The practice has benefited from Ron’s focus on innovation and his early adoption of significant changes in the veterinary industry focusing on preventative animal health, from pilot ‘Planned Animal Health and Production Service’ in the 70’s to the tools such as DairyNZ’s InCalf programme being advocated today. We know retirement has been a difficult decision for Ron to make and not one that has been taken lightly” said Mr Johnston.
Dr Gibson will remain active within the veterinary profession as Chair of the New Zealand Veterinary Council and continue to represent New Zealand on the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council.
Greg Tims & Associates have been appointed to manage the recruitment process.
