*Quake hit Christchurch manufacturer’s Afghani export win*

For more than 30 years SolarCity’s Thermocell factory has been manufacturing Solar panels in Christchurch.
The company, an icon within the New Zealand Solar industry was damaged in the February quake, stopping both manufacturing and sales.
This week an export order for 40 Thermocell Solar panels was received, opening a new market and bringing hope and some welcome good news to the business.
“Like everyone in the Canterbury region the earthquake was a cruel and devastating blow, orders like this give us confidence that we will survive this - the quality of our product will bring new opportunities” said Andrew Booth, CEO SolarCity Ltd.
The order is destined for the Kabul Police Station and will provide the building with free hot water from the abundant solar resource in Afghanistan.
