Uber Group’s Specialist Focus Pays Off In UFB Contracts

MEDIA RELEASE Uber Group, Whangarei 24 March 2011

Uber Group’s Specialist Focus Pays Off In UFB Contracts

The naming of Northland ultra-fast broadband provider Uber Group as a preferred UFB retailer in Northland confirms that a focused, efficient broadband specialist can hold their own against much larger industry players with deeper pockets. Whangarei-based Uber Group has secured a position alongside major players Telstra, Vodafone and Telecom in the rollout of broadband services to Northland, announced this week by Crown Fibre Holdings.

Uber Group, which has been delivering ultra-fast broadband services throughout Northland for six years, welcomes the news. “This is vindication of our strategy to focus on providing the best possible service to customers and to grow our client base principally through word-of-mouth referral,” says Uber Group Managing Director, Hayden Simon. “We have deliberately moved ahead of the industry in providing ultra-fast, ultra-priced and ultra-reliable broadband services into arguably the most geographically challenging region in New Zealand.”

“We want to ensure the service quality provided to the end customer gives them the best possible experience, so we have been conscientious in delivering all that we say we can deliver and disciplined in our growth strategy,” says Mr Simon. “As a result, we are now ready to take full advantage of the growth in UFB service areas, knowing our customers will actually receive the advantages from broadband they hope for.”

Providing wireless broadband services with speeds and cost competitive with those promised by a fibre network has previously been thought to be unattainable. According to Mr Simon however, the reality of Uber Group’s wireless coverage and performance has made comparisons between the two technologies somewhat irrelevant. “The economics of getting our wireless network up and running is a fraction of what it would cost to even contemplate a fully-functioning fibre-optic network or even an ADSL, Satellite or Dialup system. In our experience, customers want three things; speed, reliability and cost-efficiency. Those are the points of comparison we deliver on. The fact we can establish and maintain a network so quickly in areas that others simply cannot is a huge advantage and we are keen to pass on the benefit.”

“Nothing is gained by over-promising and under-delivering. Uber Group will continue to focus on what we are really good at and we will look to work with whoever has that attitude also. Northland deserves it,” he says. [ENDS]
