Master Terminal Software Goes Live In Italy’s Largest Port

London, 29 March 2011 –

Jade Logistics is pleased to announce the successful implementation of its Terminal Operating System (TOS) Master Terminal at the multi-cargo terminal of Ignazio Messina & Co in Genoa, Italy.

Master Terminal manages all aspects of container, vehicle, steel, forest products and general cargo handling operations at the terminal for lift on-lift off, container roll on-roll off and roll on-roll off vessel types.

Howard Wren, Director and Head of Jade Logistics said Master Terminal was experiencing good growth, and the company is delighted with the success of the Messina project.

“We have a great relationship with the team at Messina Line. We were honoured to have been selected as the preferred supplier and we look forward to a long and productive partnership”

This year the Messina Terminal expects to handle more than 250,000 twenty foot equivalent units, 126,000 linear metres of vehicles, and around 50,000 tonnes of general cargo with volumes expected to increase.

Captain Adriano Spotti, Operations Manager Ignazio Messina, said the go-live was achieved with minimal impact on operations and no adverse effects on local traffic and businesses.

“We are very attentive to the local environment in Genoa and worked hard to avoid any impact on the city and port.

“Soon after the go-live we experienced fully regular operations and good productivity. Jade Master Terminal is an integral part of our operations and we expect it to contribute to the improved efficiency and profitability of the terminal,” said Adriano Spotti.

Howard Wren said that the February 22 Christchurch earthquake had not affected the timing of the project.

“I’ve been impressed with the smooth implementation and fabulous support effort from the entire Jade team, following the tragic earthquake in Christchurch.

“Our robust and tested business management plan allowed the Messina support phase to continue without disruption to Messina or any other Jade Logistics client.

Phase two of the Messina Line project is now underway with further development being made to the roll on-roll off software,” said Wren.

Master Terminal is enjoying great success in Europe and the Middle East. Following the opening of a new office in London Jade Logistics is completing plans to open a new office in Dubai later this year to further support business growth in those regions and to provide dedicated local resources for its clients.
