Cavalier Wool Holdings Welcomes Commerce Commission Decision

The successful merger of New Zealand Wool Services International (NZWSI) scouring operations with Cavalier Wool Holdings (CWH) is a step closer today following the Commerce Commission delivering a positive preliminary determination in favour of authorizing the CWH merger plans. This is a first step to CWH acquiring the shares or assets of New Zealand Wool Services International Limited.

“CWH can now move forward with its bid with greater confidence and in the knowledge that the Commerce Commission is willing to pave the way for the scouring operations to merge,” said Nigel Hales, CEO Cavalier Wool Holdings.

“The merger will enable CWH to move the WSI scouring assets to CWH’s existing facilities in Napier and Timaru, where they will undergo process restructuring.

“CWH takes this opportunity to reassure the NZWSI staff that there will be significant employment opportunities available at the merged scouring sites. It is CWH’s intention to sell the trading division as a going concern.”
