GrabOne Flies into the Travel Game

After bringing Kiwis daily t-shirt deals with GrabOne Tee, then wine with GrabOne Bottle, GrabOne has moved into the travel sector. Today GrabOne launches GrabOne Escapes, a new travel-focused daily deal site promising to bring Kiwis the best possible prices on quality holiday packages around New Zealand and the world.

Like the GrabOne, Bottle and Tee sites, deals have limited availability. However, Escapes packages feature on the site for five days, giving Kiwis more time to make decisions on their purchases.

GrabOne Founder and CEO, Shane Bradley, says Escapes has been on the radar since he launched GrabOne in July 2010.

“We identified a need for seriously good domestic and international travel packages for Kiwis,” he says. “The “one-click weekend” type travel packages are huge overseas but we seem to have been a little slower to embrace them here in New Zealand. We’re hoping Escapes can change that.”

Escapes deals consist of accommodation packages as well as additional extras such as transport, meals, tours and other local activities.

GrabOne has trialed Escapes packages since January 2011.

“The response has been really positive,” says Bradley. “In early April we offered an Overlander Train Experience between Wellington and Auckland for two adults which included one-way flights and hotel accommodation. We sold out of this deal - 180 of the $550 packages were snapped up in just six hours. The demand is there if the deal is right.

“Having a dedicated travel vertical site packaging quality accommodation with experiences is a natural transition for us in the daily deal space.”

Today’s GrabOne Escapes launch deal includes 4 nights’ accommodation at Benbrae Cardrona Resort and 2 Adult Ski passes to Cardrona for just $499 (value $968).
