Gull gives motorists a cheaper Sunday drive

Gull gives motorists a cheaper Sunday drive

Gull promises to keep prices low for the weekend

Auckland, 17 June 2011 – Gull has advised motorists that it will hold petrol prices over the weekend, despite its competitors raising prices for regular petrol to as much as $2.089 per litre this week.

The price of diesel in Singapore, where most New Zealand companies buy their refined fuel, fell by US$4 a barrel overnight while the price of refined petrol fell US 0.60c a barrel, said Gull’s General Manager, Dave Bodger.

“Even with the exchange rate falling, Gull believes it is not the time to raise prices,” said Bodger.

“There is simply no need. That’s why we’ve committed to hold prices until at least after the weekend,” he said.

“We think Kiwis could use the break.”

At the moment, regular petrol from Gull’s unmanned sites is still under $2 per litre.

Most common prices at Gull priced sites are:

Gull Regular Plus (91 Octane) $2.039
Gull Regular (91 Octane) $2.049
Gull Force 10 (98 Octane) $2.179
Gull Diesel Max (5% biodiesel blend) $1.449
Gull Low Sulphur Diesel $1.459
