Snow Not the Only Driver

Snow Not the Only Driver

30 June 2011 – Queenstown may have been the focus of the lack of snow but leading luxury lifestyle company, Touch of Spice, has had not one cancellation in the lead up to winter. Established in Queenstown by Jacqui Spice in 2005, Touch of Spice has recently expanded to include representation in Auckland. Ms Spice says the type of service they provide is certainly a factor in driving more business to the region and not losing any.

“We focus very much on ensuring people truly have a holiday. While the snow has taken a while to arrive and looks to be here now, we are providing clients with several alternatives which are not only appealing to them but are generating more business for operators in the region.”

Touch of Spice has created a programme that offers its clients the opportunity to take advantage of winter winery lunches, mulled wine whilst teeing off on a mountain top, a luxury cruise on the lake with music, wine and food, art and wine tours, spa and golf (the perfect combination for couples) whilst contracting childcarers who think differently about how to entertain children with activities they’ll love. These include a ride on the TSS Earnslaw, luging and visiting the bungy jump. With cooking classes taking off thanks to the success of Masterchef, they are also offering cooking master classes for the whole family.

“The key is very much about keeping upbeat and selling the message there are so many fantastic things to do and see in Queenstown during winter and skiing is only one of them. People want a holiday, they want to get away from whatever their ‘normal’ life consists of and do and see different things, returning refreshed.”
