Digital Industry Forum Cluster to Grow Digital Industry

Digital Industry Forum Cluster to Grow Waikato’s Digital Industry

The Digital Industry Forum is set to grow Waikato’s digital industry by collectively promoting the capabilities of Waikato’s digital community to the world.

SODA Inc. CEO and Chair of the Digital Industry Forum Cheryl Reynolds says “through our collective approach we believe we can achieve substantially more than any single company can. The resulting global exposure will provide value for our members and will create a positive perception of the Waikato as a sought after place for highly skilled entrepreneurs, creative’s and technologists to live and work.”

Petr Adamek, an international economic development expert who has studied competencies of the regional digital enterprises says the Waikato has the potential to grow into a globally respected centre of excellence in digital technologies.

Petr says the Waikato has an advantage because there is an active digital community that is self-organised under the SODA-led Digital Industry Forum. “This world-class cluster initiative is set to increase global sales opportunities for participating members and increase the overall visibility of the Waikato as a centre of digital excellence.” Petr said.

This push to transform the Waikato into a smart and connected region is also high on the agenda of the Hamilton City Council. Mayor Julie Hardaker says Hamilton is already moving to become a more technically savvy city, with free wireless internet available in Garden Place.
