Volkswagen New Zealand Announces Record Sales in June

Volkswagen has announced an all-time record volume for June 2011, with 425 vehicles sold in New Zealand, compared with 175 in June 2010.

With a 6.4 percent share of the passenger vehicle market for the month of June, year to date, Volkswagen has achieved a 40 percent sales increase with a total of 1460 passenger vehicles sold.

The commercial category also had an impressive 209 percent sales increase year-to-date, with 439 vehicles sold. The new Volkswagen Amarok Ute has accounted for almost 39 percent of the total sales.

Volkswagen New Zealand’s General Manager, Dean Sheed, says, “Our results reflect a number of key growth areas, which include our impressive new model line-up. The new Polo, Amarok ute, Passat and Touareg have all surpassed our expectations in sales, contributing to the June spike in sales and our continued growth this year.”

Sheed adds, “Our comprehensive range of vehicles are well suited to the New Zealand market - with Volkswagen having a vehicle to suit every New Zealander - and we will continue to meet demand with competitive pricing and great value”.

Volkswagen’s growth is set to continue in 2011 with two new sales dealerships and four new service sites due to open by the end of year.
