Church Road awarded accolades at Hawke’s Bay A&P Wine Awards

Church Road awarded glowing accolades at 2011 Hawke’s Bay A&P Wine Awards

Church Road Winery continues to celebrate a truly vintage year for their Bordeaux-style reds, after being awarded two acclaimed Trophy wins for Church Road Cuve Merlot 2009 and Church Road Merlot Cabernet 2009 at the recent Hawke’s Bay A&P Wine Awards 2011.

The Champion Merlot Trophy won by Church Road Cuve Merlot 2009, capped off a line of trophies awarded by a number of New Zealand Wine Shows to every previous vintage of Cuve Merlot – 2008, 2007 and 2005 (there was no 2006 vintage).

Complementing this victory, the Champion Merlot Dominant Blend Trophy was awarded to Church Road Merlot Cabernet 2009 – another stunning result and one which Church Road senior winemaker Chris Scott was ecstatic about.

“Church Road has a long history of Bordeaux-style red winemaking in Hawke’s Bay and this trophy duo is testament to our dedicated vineyard and winemaking team’s hard work and experience, topping off a great run for successive vintages of these wines,” says Scott.

The Church Road team were also delighted to receive a further gold medal for the Church Road Reserve Cabernet Merlot 2009.

To cap off an excellent evening, Church Road Winery was awarded Cellar Door of the Year. Visitors to the Church Road Winery Cellar Door can enjoy a memorable experience that includes wine tasting and sampling local Hawke’s Bay produce, winery tour and visiting New Zealand’s only underground wine museum.
