Happy Anniversary Air New Zealand

Cairns Airport congratulates Air New Zealand on the 23rd anniversary of the continuous operation of their Auckland – Cairns service.

Cairns Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Brown, said Air New Zealand had proved an invaluable airline partner for Cairns over the past twenty-three years.

Air New Zealand currently operates four services per week between Auckland and Cairns from Auckland carrying approximately 43,000 passengers each year, with those visiting Cairns injecting tens of millions of dollars into the regional economy.

“New Zealand is an important business and holiday market for Tropical North Queensland and many people living in or visiting Cairns appreciate the opportunity to fly direct from our city to Auckland,” Mr Brown said.

“Cairns Airport and Air New Zealand have built up a strong relationship since the Auckland-Cairns service began back in 1988. We look forward to this continuing for many years to come.”

“I would especially like to acknowledge Air New Zealand’s Airport Operations Manager here in Cairns, Carol Thompson, the Regional Airports Manager North Queensland, Steve Mareroa and General Manager Australia, Cam Wallace for their ongoing support.”

“We look forward to celebrating Air New Zealand’s 25th anniversary with them in 2013.”
