Relationships Aotearoa announces new CE

The Board of Relationships Aotearoa has today announced the appointment of Fran Hoover as the organisation’s Chief Executive.

Relationships Aotearoa, formerly known as Relationship Services Whakawhanaungatanga, is New Zealand’s largest counselling agency.

Fran Hoover is a former National Operations Manager of Relationships Aotearoa.

“Fran steps into the role with an excellent understanding of Relationships Aotearoa and the important role it plays in the lives of thousands of New Zealanders every year, Board Chair Suzanne Carter says.

“As well as her background in the NGO sector, she has valuable experience of working in and with Central Government, having most recently held a senior management role at Housing New Zealand.

“She has considerable strategic and leadership skills to take our organisation through another period of its 61-year history.

“Like many other organisations, Relationships Aotearoa faces challenging operating conditions in these uncertain economic times. Fran has the skills to lead our organisation through this”, Suzanne Carter says.

She replaces Jeff Sanders who is to take up a new role as Chief Executive of Barnardos on Monday.

“Jeff has done an outstanding job of leading Relationships Aotearoa and growing our business during his eight years with us. We wish him well in his new role,” Suzanne Carter says.

Relationships Aotearoa is New Zealand’s largest provider of professional counselling and relationship education, assisting over 35,000 people each year and working in over 70 communities throughout the country. It is a not-for-profit organisation providing affordable services for individuals, couples and families for over 60 years. Relationships Aotearoa has expertise in couple counselling, working with Māori, individual and family therapy, working with violence and abuse, youth at risk, and workplace issues.
