Yealands Estate Recognised as a Global Leader in Sustainability

Runner-up in Sustainability Award of the Year

Yealands Estate has been announced as runner-up in the Sustainability Award of the Year category in the 2012 Drinks Business Green Awards.

The accolade places the Marlborough winery within the top 16 sustainable organisations within the global drinks industry.

“Our vision is to become the most sustainable wine producer in the world. We’re excited by this recognition, which recognises the progress that we’ve made and confirms that we’re on the right track,” says Yealands Estate owner and founder, Peter Yealands.

The Green Awards are run by Europe’s leading drinks publication and are judged by an independent panel of sustainability and drinks industry experts.

The Awards examine how companies manage various environmental issues including, water management, biodiversity, community environmental training and supply chain efficiencies, alongside the evolving challenges of global sustainability which face the industry.

About Yealands Estate

Yealands Estate is New Zealand’s leading environmentally sustainable winery based in the Awatere Valley, Marlborough. Developed by entrepreneur Peter Yealands, the privately owned winery features advanced green technology in every aspect of design and function.

It received carboNZeroCertTM certification in April 2009 and in doing so was the largest winery in New Zealand to achieve this status for its organisation and wine products. The winery and vineyard is also accredited under Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand.

Yealands Estate wines launched to great acclaim in August 2008 and have collected more than 250 awards to date, which goes to show that being green also means making a great drop.
