Three Local Businesses Recognised at Chch Business Awards
Three Christchurch businesses have been recognised for the part they played in a public campaign that aimed to drive local business growth.
The Awards were presented tonight (Wednesday 4 April) at the Get Into It Cocktail Event for Businesses. The Event was the final part of the Get Into It Christchurch campaign, which has been running for the last five weeks. The campaign aimed to drive business growth by encouraging Cantabrians to rediscover their city and make a conscious choice to support local businesses.
The Supreme Award was won by Savoir, a boutique lingerie and swimwear store that shifted to Papanui Road after its Sydenham premise was destroyed in the February quake.
Recover Canterbury Communications Manager Pip Tschudin says Savoir embraced the Get Into It campaign, using it not just as a way to get customers through the door, but as an opportunity to develop a measurable marketing plan.
“Savoir’s marketing plan ticked all the boxes in terms of it having clear objectives, being targeted and measurable. As a result Savoir has come away from the Get Into It campaign with not only extra sales through the till but a really clear focus for the future in terms of how best to market their business,” says Mrs Tschudin.
For winning the Supreme Award Savoir received $3,000 worth of advertising on More FM, $1,000 worth of advertising with The Press and $300 of Vodafone airtime.
The Award for Best Use of Media went to Timezone and the Award for Best Use of Social Media went to Leap Fitness and Motivation. Timezone and Leap Fitness and Motivation both won $1,500 advertising on More FM, $500 worth of advertising with The Press and $150 of Vodafone airtime.
The Awards were presented by Recover Canterbury Chief Executive Barney Sundstrum and Steve Lange, who spoke at the Awards event about how he grew Tony’s Tyre Services from a single store in Palmerston North to the largest independently owned tyre company in New Zealand.
“Steve gave the audience a real boost, explaining how he developed a culture of enthusiasm in his business which he believes was the key to its success. His story is one of how through dedication, absolute commitment and passion, he has triumphed over adversity. His success story was just the dose of inspiration our business community needs as we continue to look to the future for Christchurch,” says Mrs Tschudin.
The Get Into It Cocktail Event for business was proudly sponsored by Vodafone with support from The Press, More FM, the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Recover Canterbury.
