4 July 2012 – New Zealand’s Car of the Year, the smart, all-new Ford Focus has taken out the top sales spot in the highly competitive c-car segment for June, beating the Toyota Corolla. Meanwhile, the impressive Mondeo has also taken the top place in its segment for the third month in a row, outselling the Camry by almost 42 per cent and the Aurion by more than 100 per cent in June.

“It’s an excellent result and underscores the growing appeal of these vehicles,” said Neale Hill, Managing Director Ford New Zealand. “The Focus and Mondeo are vehicles that customers want to drive. They tick all the boxes with five-star safety, fuel-efficient engines and smart technology yet they go one step further and offer the performance that makes driving fun again.”

Other sales milestones in June: June was an excellent month for Ford New Zealand overall. It was Ford’s best single month since October 2008, with year over year growth for the month of 43 per cent (June 2012:1253 vehicles, June 2011: 875 vehicles). The all-new Ford Ranger also hit a new record in June. The Ranger, AMI NZ Autocar’s Overall Car of the Year and NZ4WD Magazine’s Overall 4WD of the Year, had its best month yet with 441 Rangers sold.
