Notice of Voluntary Product Recall

Aber Holdings Ltd, New Zealand owner of Kent Heaters has announced a nationwide recall of the Kent 5 Fin Oil Column Heater (barcode 9-416668-669366) and the Kent 9 Fin Oil Column Heater with Timer (barcode 9-416668-669601), purchased between 1st February 2012 and 3rd July 2012.

On 3rd July 2012 the heaters were voluntarily withdrawn from The Warehouse stores nationwide, where Aber Holdings Ltd ranges their brand of heaters exclusively.

The recall follows independent assessment of the heaters, after a customer informed Aber Holdings Ltd that their heater had leaked oil. No injury was caused to any person.

Customers are asked to stop using the recalled heaters and return them to any branch of The Warehouse where they will be refunded in full, with or without a receipt to ensure customer safety. No other heaters purchased before 1st February 2012 are being recalled or withdrawn.

Aber Holdings Ltd has been working with its overseas supplier to address the faulty heaters identified and can offer complete reassurance that these heater models will not be available to purchase until any identified faults are rectified.

Gregg Brown, owner of Aber Holdings Ltd said today, “We pride ourselves on our robust quality checks, and we’re working with this manufacturer to retrace all their processes and determine exactly what led to this particular fault in this particular shipment of heaters, despite our evaluations. We will continue to thoroughly review their quality control processes, ensuring the safety of all our customers, which is always our paramount concern.”

“The Warehouse, who is managing our recall, has responded efficiently, thoroughly and quickly, to ensure customer safety. We are working in tandem taking all necessary measures to recall these heaters and improve the heaters safety,” Mr Brown added.


Customers can free-call The Warehouse Customer Care Team on 0800 422 274 between 8:00am and 5.30pm (Monday to Friday), if they require any additional information.
