Interior Designer Debra DeLorenzo wins top bathroom award
Wellington interior designer Debra DeLorenzo (CMKD/CMBD) has won the National Kitchen and Bathroom 2012 Design Award for best bathroom design of the year.
The judges said the design showed an amazing attention to detail as well as being innovative and very functional.
It was a very challenging small ensuite space (2 m by 2.4 m). The award winning ensuite featured a custom mirror vanity unit and an exquisite lead light window designed by Mrs DeLorenzo to match the fittings.
The awards were announced in Taupo on Saturday night at the NKBA Gala Awards dinner. In her acceptance speech Mrs DeLorenzo thanked her clients who now have two winning bathrooms in their house.
“Last year, I designed their main bathroom which was featured on the cover of Trends in New Zealand and Australia. I am so excited that we have created another beautiful bathroom that suits the house.”
The NKBA design awards featured designs from all over New Zealand and have been an annual event for 28 years.
Mrs DeLorenzo received a travel prize to DesignEx 2013 in Melbourne from the awards sponsor spazioCasa. Maurizio Cozzolino director of spazioCasa presented the prize and said that Mrs DeLorenzo’s design was one of his favourites.
“You can really see some thought and effort as gone into the design. I am also happy that Debra chose to use so much on my product in the ensuite.”
Mrs DeLorenzo also won the Certified Design Society Award, sponsored by Hettich, for best bathroom as well as Wellington regional bathroom sponsored by NKBA, and runner up people’s choice bathroom design sponsored by spazioCasa.
Mrs DeLorenzo was also awarded with her masters certificate in Kitchen and Bathroom Design at the awards for 14 years of work and training in the industry.
