MEDIA RELEASE

First Assistance teams up with AXA PPP International

New Zealand’s leading emergency assistance company, First Assistance, has won the Australasian account for the international business division of AXA PPP, one of the UK’s largest providers of healthcare insurance.

The contract will see First Assistance managing the claims process for AXA PPP International’s insured customers – predominantly ex-pats – in both New Zealand and Australia, providing local expertise, networks and industry knowledge.

First Assistance will act as liaison between AXA PPP International and medical providers across New Zealand and Australia. When a claim is made, First Assistance will work with the medical provider to generate a plan of action, obtain all quotes and medical information, and guarantee payments to local medical providers under existing agreements held by First Assistance.

First Assistance CEO Mary-Jo McDonald is excited by the opportunity to work with an internationally renowned insurer in AXA PPP International.

“We are pleased to announce the new partnership with AXA PPP in what we believe will be a relationship with real benefits for both parties. With First Assistance acting as its local representative in both the Australian and New Zealand markets, AXA PPP International will continue to build on what is already a strong global brand,” she says.

“The contract is a significant win for a New Zealand based company, given the number of ex-pats living in Australia and the high calibre of competition from Australian based assistance companies. It is further demonstration that, with the right skill set and expertise, New Zealand companies can compete and provide great service for even the biggest global accounts,” says McDonald.

AXA PPP International Managing Director Andrew Coombs is equally enthusiastic about the new opportunity this presents to both parties.

“I am delighted to announce a new agreement with First Assistance throughout Australasia. This further strengthens AXA PPP International’s global proposition and gives our customers access to over 300 high quality hospitals across the region. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with First Assistance who share our passion for delivering the highest quality customer service, and bring exceptional local expertise and market knowledge of the region,” says Coombs.

First Assistance is New Zealand’s leading assistance company, providing a diverse range of claims management and emergency assistance services across the travel, automotive, property and business issues sectors.
