Good news for milk consumers
Milk is getting cheaper.
Nosh is bringing down the price of household milk - again.
It has re-introduced $1.99 milk for a 2 litre bottle. The deal runs for three months in all six Nosh stores (Auckland, Matakana and Hamilton).
FYI, when I looked online this morning, 2 litres of standard homogenised milk was selling for between $3.75 and $3.99 at Countdown. An independent price comparison of 2 litres of Blue Top milk by the NZ Herald (on Saturday) showed that the cost varied hugely. Nosh $1.99, Pak n Sav $2.95, Homebrand at Countdown $2.98, Pam’s at New World $3.75, Anchor at Countdown $4.39.
Last month, Fonterra lowered the wholesale price of milk in response to lower commodity prices and a strong New Zealand dollar. This has resulted in reduced product costs to local bottlers and retailers.
Nosh believes if there is a fall in the wholesale price of milk then that should be passed on to consumers.
Nosh founder Clinton Beuvink says he is hoping other retailers will follow suit and drop their prices.
