BP gives local Tawa charity Kiwi Community Assistance (KCA) a boost
Every year BP New Zealand donates petrol vouchers to charity organisations throughout the country as part of its Vouchers for Volunteers programme. Today it announced the recipients of more than $185,000 worth of vouchers nationwide.
35 charities in the Greater Wellington region received a total of $17,500. The recipient of the largest amount was Kiwi Community Assistance.
Kiwi Community Assistance distributes donated goods (clothing, household items) and food parcels to families in need in the North Wellington/Porirua area. They source items for the various charities already operating in regional communities.
BP Managing Director Matt Elliott said that Kiwi Community Assistance was a deserving recipient.
“Services such as those provided by Kiwi Community Assistance are vital to the Greater Wellington region. They work closely with other charities to ensure that people who are in need are provided with the basics – clothing, household goods and food.”
“We are delighted we can support Kiwi Community Assistance with a share of the more than $185,000 of vouchers donated to charities around New Zealand.”
Mr Elliott said that BP was proud to be involved in the scheme. Vouchers for Volunteers has been running for seven years.
“Every day thousands of volunteers give up their spare time to help others who are less fortunate. This is our way of saying ‘Thank you’ and to do our bit to ensure volunteers can continue their good work,” he said.
