Colenso cleans up in end of year awards

Caples confirms Colenso BBDO / Proximity as world's best direct marketing agency

Colenso BBDO / Proximity has set a new record for a New Zealand agency and cemented its position as the world's best direct marketing agency picking up 13 Caples Awards in New York last week.

The Auckland agency won four Golds, five Silvers and four Bronze awards making it the top ranked agency at the awards, which honour the best direct and interactive marketing campaigns from around the world. It was also the best performance by a New Zealand agency at the Caples Awards to-date.

The wine is over campaign for DB export was the agency's big winner coming away with two Golds and three Silvers, while Donation glasses for Pedigree and Sorry about the twigs folks for Monteiths both received Gold and Silver awards.

"It's exciting to be working in the current environment which allows us to use creativity to engage an audience directly, and the best work these days usually has a direct aspect to it. The wonderful thing about the Caples is that they are results-driven awards, which demonstrates that great work works," says Nick Garrett, Colenso BBDO's managing director.

The performance caps off an exceptional year for the team at College Hill, who have received numerous direct marketing accolades including winning the coveted Diamond Award at the Echo Awards, as well as being ranked the world's number one direct marketing agency in the 2012 Big Won Report.

Colenso BBDO named Agency of the Year; Worthington Australasian Creative of the Year

Adding to last week's Caples success, Colenso BBDO has also been named the New Zealand Creative Agency of the Year by Campaign Asia, while Nick Worthington, Colenso BBDO's creative chairman was named Australasia's Creative of the Year.

Receiving international recognition at the Caples and Campaign Asia awards is the perfect way to end the year says Colenso BBDO's managing director, Nick Garrett.

"We are extremely proud of all that we have achieved in 2012. The team has worked hard to deliver world-class work for our clients, and it's great to have our efforts acknowledged at these prestigious international awards shows," says Garrett.

"It's no surprise to see Nick Worthington being highlighted as Australasia's leading creative. He is an amazing talent and works tirelessly to deliver incredible creative solutions and business outcomes for our clients. However, the best thing about Wortho is that he's a good bloke, and the award couldn't have gone to a nicer guy."

The 2012 Big Won Report also recognised his creative leadership earlier in the year ranking him the world's number one creative director.
