New Naming Sponsor Announced for 2013 Garden Marlborough

New Naming Sponsor Announced for 2013 Garden Marlborough

New Zealand’s premier gardening event, Garden Marlborough, will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in style with Nelmac signing up as naming sponsor for the forthcoming 2013 year.

The agreement with the top of the South’s leading contractor for environmental solutions is the first in a two-year deal that will underpin the importance of the festival in the New Zealand gardening calendar.

Announcing the new sponsorship arrangement, Garden Marlborough President, Jeremy Jones, said he was delighted that Nelmac had agreed to team up with the event that showcases the very best of Marlborough’s stunning landscape.

“This is a significant partnership for the festival and reflects its growth on both the national and international stage. In celebrating our 20th year we are now finalising the details of the program, which is exciting and sure to offer something for everyone.”

The 2013 program will ensure that this Spring Marlborough will be the place to be not only for lovers of gardening but those who seek a great reason to relax, eat and be entertained during the four-day festival, which runs from 6-10 November and signals the start of the region’s festival season.

The organising committee is pulling out all stops with the return of the iconic Garden Party at Timara Lodge, Art Auction and community awards such as the Best Dressed Street and Schools Edible Garden Awards.

Chief Executive of New Zealand-owned Nelmac, Lee Babe, said the company was excited to be partnering with the festival given its importance to the regional economy and its nationally recognised reputation. Nelmac prides itself in delivering comprehensive solutions for the natural and built environment. “We couldn’t have thought of a better way to show our support for the environment and the region where we live and work by sponsoring this great horticultural event as it prepares to celebrate its twentieth year,” said Mr Babe.

“From humble beginnings in 1993, the festival can now rightly claim to be one of the country’s most prestigious gardening events and we look forward to helping Jeremy and his team build on this renowned success.”

Marlborough Mayor Alistair Sowman said he was excited to see local events attracting new corporate support. “Visitors travel from all over New Zealand and overseas for Garden Marlborough, many of whom stay in the region for three or more days providing a real boost to Marlborough’s regional economy.” said Mr Sowman.

“Investing in events like this will help Marlborough achieve our goal to increase visitor stays in the region and reinforce Marlborough as an attractive and accessible tourist destination.”
