Southern Young New Zealand Executive of the Year Announced

Central Otago’s Kate Scott has been named by NZIM Southern as this year’s winning regional finalist for the 19th annual NZIM/ Young Executive of the Year Award, sponsored by Eagle Technology.

Ms Scott is managing director of BTW South Limited – industry leaders in surveying and environmental planning. As well as providing leadership, mentoring and motivation as the firm’s managing director, Kate is also responsible for driving business growth and contributes at the coalface on a day-to-day basis as a senior environmental planner and manager of multi-million dollar projects.

Since founding BTW South Limited with her business partners in 2007, Ms Scott has led the company through exponential growth significantly increasing turnover and growing its specialist team from two to ten.

NZIM Southern CEO, Joseph Thomas, said the continuing success of BTW South Limited is a testament to Kate’s natural leadership and values and her ability to foster a learning culture within the organisation

Before establishing BTW South, Ms Scott worked predominantly in resource management and supported her husband in the day-to-day running of their family dairy farm in Ettrick.

The NZIM/EagleTechnology Young Executive of the Year Award was established in 1994 to recognise outstanding individuals who are prepared to embrace emerging business best practices, and search out new opportunities, while demonstrating excellence in leadership and management practice.

The 2013 Young Executive of the Year will be announced at the Deloitte/ Management MagazineTop 200 Awards, on November 28.
