Bolton Hotel Leads the Way with Ipad Rollout

Bolton Hotel Leads the Way with Ipad Rollout

The Bolton Hotel, Wellington’s only boutique, five-star hotel, is excited to announce details of an exciting technology rollout, which will see iPad tablets available for guest use in every room of the hotel.

The introduction of in-room iPads is an innovative development and it is thought that the Bolton is the first hotel in New Zealand to install iPads throughout the entire hotel, not just for selected rooms. Fully embracing the advances of technology, the Bolton Hotel has also had an App custom built for the iPads, which makes accessing hotel information a breeze for guests.

Meredith Ryan, the Bolton Hotel’s Manager, said: “We are incredibly excited to announce that iPads are now available in every room of the hotel. The fact that we are the first to offer this is great too – we are proud that we are innovating in this way and leading other hotels by adopting such technologies for all of our guests to use. It is also great that during this process, we have been able to forge a great relationship with another local business, App Us, who have developed the Bolton Hotel App for us. It is really satisfying to see other local businesses succeeding; it is really important for us to embrace local companies for products and services, wherever possible.”

The iPads will have multiple uses in each room. The Bolton Hotel was amongst the very first hotels in New Zealand to offer free Wi-Fi throughout, so guests can utilise their iPad for internet browsing in their room, as well as throughout the hotel, whether they are enjoying a coffee in the lobby, or eating a meal. Guests will also be able to access information about the hotel, from in-house guest facilities to daily menus from the Hotel’s popular eatery, Artisan. All hotel-related browsing will take place through the App Us-designed Bolton Hotel App.

Lawrence Bass, Marketing Director of App Us said: “We were thrilled when we were approached by the Bolton Hotel to develop their App. It says a lot about the Hotel and the direction they are heading – they know their customers are utilising smartphones and tablets and are always connected. Businesses need to be part of that connection, and the way to achieve that is through a custom designed App. It is great to work with other businesses who recognise the value of that.”

The Bolton Hotel App contains all of the information usually found in the traditionally printed compendium, from hotel facilities, to safety information, to local attractions. Further to that, the iPads provide an easy way for guests to contact the front desk, concierge, or to order room service.

As well as being convenient and fun to use, the introduction of iPads throughout the hotel also contributes to the Hotel’s green credentials. The Bolton Hotel already possesses the coveted ‘Enviro-Gold’ rating from Qualmark, in recognition of their sustainability policy; which includes in-room recycling and power conservation options. By using iPads for the compendium, menus and other updates, the amount of paper used throughout the hotel is significantly reduced.

“For us, this is a logical step – our guests are our number one priority and everything we do is done to make their stay as enjoyable as it can be. In-room tablets are fast becoming the new mark of luxury service in hotels, and this is consistent with our position as Wellington’s only boutique, five-star hotel,” said Meredith Ryan.
