$7 Million Upgrade of Leisure And Fast Fashion Precinct

Media Release July 2013

Botany Town Centre to Undertake $7 Million Upgrade of Leisure And Fast Fashion Precinct

Botany Town Centre has announced that it is embarking on a $7+ million project to develop its Fountain Lane South precinct, in a move that is attracting new leisure and fast fashion retailers and will allow the centre to further expand its diverse offer over time.

Centre Manager Bronwyn Anchor says, “The project is a substantial investment by the AMP Capital Property Portfolio fund and demonstrates a significant measure of confidence by our owner and the community off the back of challenging economic times. It is also timely as we celebrate our 12th year of operation.

”It allows us to develop a significant and highly competitive leisure and fast fashion run and meet the needs of our market – for shoppers in the centre’s main trade area, it enables them to do all their fashion shopping at Botany Town Centre.”

The confirmation of the project, which began on 1 May and is scheduled for completion by 24 October, brings additional retailers to the centre, including Valley Girl, Temt and General Issue.

Senior Marketing Manager Desiree Clark says, “The new retailers have been requested by shoppers, and the project has been developed to respond to the needs of the community and structured to ensure that there is minimal disruption to the centre while it is being completed.

“The work will result in a new leisure and fast fashion destination with a contemporary look and feel with plenty of natural light, comfort zones and an improved aesthetic. It is scheduled to be completed in time for the summer retail season and is optimal as the centre and its retailers launch pre-Christmas campaigns.”

The project will add significantly to the centre’s retail offer, and also involves roofing-in and weather-proofing; bringing shop fronts forward to improve visibility and removal of industrial concrete finishes and columns; raising the level of the piazza floor to resemble the Market Square and Garden Lane level; construction of a covered walkway over Town Centre Drive linking the Fashion Pavilion to Fountain Lane South and upgrading and renovation of the amenities and parent’s room.

Ms Anchor says, “The retail environment remains one in which the slightest edge makes a difference, and this investment represents our commitment to our ever-changing local community and to our retailers, who will reap the benefits of this new leisure and fast fashion destination.”
