Statement on “Aeroplane Pilot” being added to Essential Skills Demand List
The New Zealand Air Line Pilots’ Association (NZALPA) is in the process of making a submission to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment regarding the request received to have “Aeroplane Pilot” added to the immediate shortage category of the Essential Skills in Demand List.
“We have been surveying our membership and the wider NZ pilot community to get a clearer picture of the situation. Early indications are that the Government’s preliminary view is correct that there is no immediate pilot shortage in New Zealand” says President Wayne Renwick.
The data we gather from NZ pilots will assist us to make a robust submission on the issue and further assist us during the wider industry consultation occurring later this year.
