A Series of Stunning Successes for Coopers Creek

Media Release – 10th September 2013

A Series of Stunning Successes for Coopers Creek

Coopers Creek continues to lead with their Select Vineyard range, this time with Top Wine results in Cuisine magazine’s last three issues, a Trophy and three Gold Medals from the Bragato Wine Awards and a Double Gold in The Six Nations Wine Challenge.

Coopers Creek wines have had an amazing winter to say the least. In May this year, the Select Vineyard (SV) Hawkes Bay Viognier 2011 securing a Top Wine and Best Buy award in Cuisine magazine. The July Cuisine magazine then named The Reserve Hawkes Bay Syrah 2010 as its Top Wine in the New Zealand Syrah tasting. Most recently, in Cuisine’s September issue, the SV 2011 Hawkes Bay Malbec was named as New Zealand’s Best Specialty Red.

In late August at the wine industry’s Bragato awards the SV Gisborne Albariño 2013 was awarded the Trophy for Champion Other White Wine, backing up nicely the previous vintage’s quadruple trophy year. This is just the third vintage for the Albariño, which is proving to be a hit here and in export markets.

The SV Albariño went on last week to gain a Double Gold in the Six Nations Wine Challenge, the only wine show in the world where the wines come in exclusively by invitation from the Judges, ensuring a higher standard of wine quality than any competition of this size. Assessing wines from Argentina, Australia, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa and the USA, the Six Nations panel is made up of senior wine judges, one from each nation, including our own Bob Campbell MW.

Coopers Creek offers more discovery wines than any other producer in New Zealand, and with the awards continuing to roll in, it’s clear that their devotion to crafting emerging varietals is worth a much closer look! The Select Vineyards range is widely available in fine wine retailers and top restaurants around New Zealand.
