"The claims that staff have left because of safety concerns are incorrect.
"Of 12 people who graduated from our recent induction training course, three people have left for practical, personal reasons, not related to safety or to the running of the prison.
"Claims that staff have refused to work are incorrect.
"Corrections' national prison performance table rates us as "Exceptional", one of the best three prisons in the country. Safety and security are key factors in determining that rating.
"We are aware of the union's views and we will continue to engage with them in a constructive manner."
