GB NZ successful with major transfer of business

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GB NZ successful with major transfer of business

Gallagher Bassett NZ (GB) has been successful in the transfer of approximately 90 per cent of Catalyst Risk Management’s business after its owners, Employers Mutual (EML), announced its withdrawal from the New Zealand market.

GB NZ Managing Director Shayne Milsom said the transfer of business was very exciting and would see GB’s NZ operation almost double in size.

“We have recruited an additional 14 people across the operation and opened a new branch in Napier, adding to our five current offices in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Christchurch and Dunedin,” he added .

“This transfer of business sees GB taking on claims management services for NZ Police, who will be our largest NZ client. The team will work closely with all of our new clients to provide tools, support and strategies to manage risk and reduce costs.”

Mr. Milsom said the contracts began October 1, 2013, with the transition of the business having been in progress for quite a few weeks.

“Through managing our clients’ personal injury claims, our aim is to assist injured workers in returning to their previous lifestyles whilst, wherever possible, working to reduce current claim durations to ultimately achieve better outcomes for all involved,” he said.

GB already manages between 15 and 20 per cent of work injury claims in the NZ self insured workforce sector and also provides claims management services across Australia. GB is the only organisation licensed to provide workers’ compensation services in all three statutory schemes in Australia: Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales.
