New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s Marketing Executive, Mr Paul Steel reports that the 6,800 bales on offer in the North Island attracted strong interest in most sectors with a 95 percent clearance.
The weighted indicator for the main trading currencies firmed 0.68 percent with minimal impact on local prices.
Mr Steel advises that the Fine Crossbred Full Fleece remained firm to buyers favour. Fine Crossbred Shears 3 to 5 inches were 1 to 2 percent firmer, 3 to 4 and 2 to 4 inches strengthened 3 to 5 percent with 2 to 3 inch shears firm.
Coarse Crossbred Full Fleece were firm to buyers favour with shears 3 to 5, 2 to 4 and 2 to 3 inch 1 to 2 percent firmer, with 3 to 4 inch wools 2 to 4 percent stronger.
Short Oddments eased 2 percent.
Good competition with China, Australasia and the Middle East principals, supported by Western Europe, United Kingdom and India.
Next sale on 10th October comprises approximately 7,700 bales from the South Island which is 42 percent less than anticipated rostered quantities.
