Air New Zealand appoints new Chief Sales and Commercial Officer

Air New Zealand has appointed Cam Wallace to the role of Chief Sales and Commercial Officer effective January 1, 2014. He will replace Norm Thompson who retires in December.

Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon says Mr Wallace, who is currently Group General Manager New Zealand and Pacific Islands, has been selected for the role after an international search.

“Mr Wallace is a world class sales leader and I am delighted that an Air New Zealander was able to beat strong global competition for this position on my Executive management team. This is another excellent endorsement of the airline’s senior leadership development programme succeeding,” Mr Luxon says.

As Chief Sales and Commercial Officer Mr Wallace will have accountability for more than NZ$4 billion in passenger and cargo revenue predominantly driven through sales in New Zealand, Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Europe, China and Japan.

“I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with a world class Executive team to lead the global sales function during an exciting period of growth for Air New Zealand. The airline’s Go Beyond plan has us on course to drive more revenue than ever before through growth in existing markets, deepening alliance relationships and developing new routes. Alongside this we have a relentless focus on further enhancing our customer experience and delivering products and services that keep us at the forefront of aviation,” Mr Wallace says.
