Mike Pero new naming sponsor of Ruapuna Park

The public face behind Mike Pero Mortgages and Mike Pero Real Estate, Mike Pero, is pleased to announce that his companies have secured the new naming rights sponsorship of Ruapuna Park.  Previously known as PowerBuilt Raceway (Ruapuna) it will now be known as Mike Pero Motorsport Park.

Announcing the new sponsorship arrangement, Mike Pero said, “the chance came up to take over from Powerbuilt Tools as the former naming rights sponsor and I saw it as a chance to get in behind a community asset and a sporting venue with special meaning.”

“I first went to the track as a 16 year old lad and spent more time at Ruapuna as a teenager on my motorbikes than I did at my Mum and Dad's home. We joked about the grooves I'd put into the tarmac by circulating time and time again.  By the time I got to my first race meeting I knew I was going to win – and I did by a country mile!”

Mike Pero went on to be a national motorcycle champion himself, six times over and attributes a lot of his business success to the race track that was his second home as a teenager.

He said, “motorsport is no different to any other discipline or sport –its mind over matter as well with motorsport its a partnership between man and machine. Preparation, determination and the desire to succeed!  The same applies in business.

Some people are into golf and golf courses. I find beauty in a race circuit and when you add the sound of Thunder (motorcycles) or screaming V8s  you've then got poetry in motion.”

Mike Pero said, “he was very excited about the new sponsorship and would like to help the Canterbury Car Club further promote the circuit and its events. One of my goals is to find a way of returning the very popular V8 SuperTourers here again.”

In the meantime he said, the Lady Wigram next weekend and Skope Motor Racing Classic in February continue to be the calendar highlights for the circuit

The very first meeting to be held under the Mike Pero Motorsport Park name will be The Lady Wigram Trophy Meeting which attracts competitors from both New Zealand and Australia – Nov 1-3.

Ends.
