Young Auckland Student Wins Prestigious Zonta International Business Award

Kate McCaw, a student at Auckland University was named the recipient of the prestigious Zonta International Jane M Klausman (JMK) Woman in Business Scholarship for 2014. Kate is 4th Year Student at Auckland University studying at the Business School and Faculty of Science. Her major field of study is Economics, Innovation and Geography. She has also completed a Certificate of Languages in French and German. Kate is originally from Wellington and attended Samuel Marsden College. Kate’s goal is to pursue a career that combines her appreciation of economics and sustainable communities. She is interested in the innovation space and the connection between science research and business initiatives to generate new innovation which are both socially and economically rewarding. She wants to lead projects around socially and environmentally sustainable products.

Zonta International is a global organization, founded in 1919, of 30,000 professionals in 67 countries advancing the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Jane M Klausman (JMK) Women in Business Scholarships, first awarded in 1998, are open to women pursuing an undergraduate degree in business leading to a business management career. The $US7000 scholarship is awarded to students of outstanding achievement and future potential in their undergraduate or master’s studies. Since the program’s inception, Zonta has awarded 357 scholarships to women from 47 countries.
