Vector News - Cricket World Cup is almost here

Cricket World Cup is almost here

Cricket fans from around the world are rushing to get their tickets with just six days before the start of the ICC’s flagship tournament.

The 14 Cricket World Cup 2015 venues around Australia and New Zealand are filling up for what promises to be the most intense competition ever for the silver and gold trophy.

More than 750,000 tickets have been sold to date, well on the way to a predicted total attendance of more than a million.

Australia and New Zealand last hosted the event 23 years ago and the lure of some of the world’s best cricket grounds and the chance for a great holiday is attracting tens of thousands of visitors.

For locals it’s a once in a generation chance to experience the unique atmosphere of a Cricket World Cup in their own backyard. Vector has put on extra teams to ensure the smooth running of the Cricket World Cup.

Network summary for week ending 8 February 2015

Electricity

Waitangi Day saw blustery conditions across much of the Auckland region with a top wind gust of 76 km/h recorded. Tree branches blew onto lines in Papakura, Silverdale, Newmarket, Mt Eden and Dairy Flat.

Emergency services reported a sparking pole in Auckland Central during the week. It turned out to be a street light that was sparking, and not a Vector pole, and the council was notified.

Car v. pole incidents occurred in Tindalls Beach, East Tamaki and Te Atatu during the week. In the Te Atatu incident, a person was trapped in a vehicle, and an emergency shutdown was performed. A Vector pole had to be replaced as a result of this incident.
