New tech start-up aims to improve the way we think about our property
HomeOversite, a free online tool launched today makes it easier for homeowners to keep track of anything to do with their home and other properties.
Lauren McKay, HomeOversite Managing Director, says the tool will fill a gap in the market by providing an online property file and service tool - a place to record anything relating to your property.
“Recent Building Act changes also require that more information, such as maintenance and warranties, are handed over by the builder to the homeowner at the end of a project. This tool allows for all this information to be conveniently stored online. Soon we’ll also be launching a user-friendly tool to enable builders to meet these new compliance requirements online.”
“The tool will help homeowners to record anything from what paint colours they used to the contact details of the chimney sweep they used last year. There’s an easy set and forget maintenance schedule so homeowners don’t have to worry what they should be doing and when. The online tool will also remind users when any maintenance or insurances are due or when any warranties are about to expire.”
“When a property goes to market, a property report can be generated and supplied to interested buyers which can provide additional information that often goes unnoticed. And when the property is sold, it can easily be transferred to the new owner passing on that invaluable property history that often gets lost from owner to owner.”
Ms McKay explains that the idea behind the tool is to allow homeowners to understand more about their property. “We think, given the chance, people will really enjoy getting more involved with their property, to talk about, think and tinker with it. There is also a possibility for this to save money, reduce stress and increase the value of property.”
“HomeOversite is all about giving homeowners the independence to control what they do with their home, in a manner that does not take up valuable storage space with screeds of paperwork. We’ve built it for New Zealand homeowners because we believe that there must be a better way for them to manage and have a greater insight of their hard-earned investments,” Ms McKay concluded.
