Christchurch Airport welcomes Jetstar expansion
Today’s announcement that Jetstar is expanding its domestic services into regional New Zealand centres is being welcomed by Christchurch Airport.
Airport chief executive Malcolm Johns says additional airline servicing of the country’s regional centres is excellent news.
“Connectivity is vital to the growth of regional economies. Additional flights will make it easier to move passengers, visitors and goods to and from these centres, creating jobs and economic growth.”
Malcolm Johns says the news is also excellent for the country’s tourism sector.
“This enables visitors – both domestic and international – to get off the main trunk line more easily and explore the excellent attractions our regions have to offer, again providing economic benefits.”
Malcolm Johns says Christchurch Airport values the relationship it has with Jetstar, which celebrated five years of flying to the city last year.
“We look forward to working with Jetstar on this initiative going forward.”
