Ate, shopped, won ... a trip to Singapore
Shopping at Christchurch Airport has won a Sumner
resident a trip for two to Singapore.
Wendy Courtois shopped at JR Duty Free, one of the airport stores which ran the “Eat, Shop, Win” competition during the month of June.
She was one of more than 12,000 people who spent $20 at a retail or food and beverage store to enter the draw for a trip for two to Singapore on Singapore Airlines, with four nights’ accommodation, transfer transport and entry into Singapore attractions.
“My husband and I had a few days in Sydney recently and as we arrived home he wanted to buy a bottle of duty-free whisky, but I wanted to get home quickly,” says Wendy. “I am so glad he insisted on buying the whisky, because that was the only entry we had in the competition – and it won ! ”
Wendy says she was very surprised to get the call to say she’d won.
“I never win things and sometimes wonder whether anyone really does win competitions I enter, but now I know people do – and this time it is me! I thought the call was a hoax at first, but now I know it wasn’t I am over the moon.”
Wendy and her husband are already checking their diaries to work out when they can make the trip and at this stage are thinking it’s likely to be in early next year.
“I have only been to Singapore once, thirty years ago, so I am well overdue to visit. This is a fantastic opportunity and I am very grateful to Christchurch Airport and Singapore Airlines”, she says. “We can’t wait to make the trip and are really excited.”
Singapore Airlines has been flying direct to Christchurch for 29 years, a relationship both companies value highly. Just last week, the airline announced increased flights to and from Christchurch over the coming summer, going from seven flights a week to ten in the peak of the season.
